VGB Congress "POWER PLANTS 2010" in Essen
From 22 to 24 September, this year’s Capital of Culture played host to the POWER PLANTS 2010 congress organised by VGB. The central theme was how to develop and implement practical and reasonable solutions to cope with the challenges of future power supply. With its motto "Renewables, Nuclear Power, Coal and Gas - Technologies for a Low-carbon Future", the congress underlined the importance of using all available energy sources without any prejudgement and without considering individual sources as being incompatible with each other.

"The challenges facing the sector are diverse: the energy industry trilemma, the integration of the European energy markets, the need to replace ageing generation capacity and the required investments. Facilitating structural change by focussing on the different functional roles in the value chain across national borders can be the industry’s answer to these challenges and support a sustainable position in society and the market,” said Dr. Bernhard Fischer, CEO of E.ON Generation GmbH, in his keynote address entitled "Adopting Future Challenges – The New Structure of Power Generation".

At the joint stand of E.ON Anlagenservice and E.ON Generation Fleet, delegates could find out for themselves how E.ON addressed these challenges.
